Undergraduate Admissions

The CU Ajman admission policy is based on a student’s academic achievements in secondary school certificate or its equivalent, regardless of gender, race, color, religion, age, handicap, or national origin. CU Ajman will classify a successful candidate as either full- or part-time based on the number of credit hours attempted per semester. All documents presented by the applicant for admission purposes become the property of CU Ajman and will not be returned. If it is determined that any documents presented by the applicant are fraudulent, CU Ajman reserves the right to expel the student without refund of any fees paid.

To enroll in an Undergraduate Degree Program, students must meet the minimum academic and proficiency requirements. Please check the applications deadline in the academic calendar

Bachelor of Dental Surgery

High School average/stream A minimum High School Average of 85% for Advanced, and 80% for Elite Track, or equivalent in Standardized International curriculums.
English Proficiency One of the following scores:

  • EmSAT score of 1100 for the English Language
  • IELTS Academic 5.0
  • Paper Based TOEFL 500
  • Internet Based TOEFL 61
Science Proficiency (Chemistry, Biology, Physics)  Students with a high school score of less than 80% in two of the three science courses (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), and the Mathematics must pass one of the following:

  1. Pass a University Administered test with a score of 80% in that two science subject, and mathematics (Or)
  2. Submit an EMSAT score of 900 in any two science subjects, and 800 in Mathematics.
  3. SAT in Mathematics with a score of 555

Students meeting the high school score but not achieving the minimum English Proficiency scores will be conditionally admitted to the program. While under conditional admitted status, each student must study in the Intensive English Program (IEP) and may only register in one or two of the General Education courses – 1. Computer Fundamentals, 2. Islamic Studies. The student will be allowed two semesters to achieve the required English Proficiency scores in order to continue in the program.

When applying for admission to CU Ajman, the applicant must submit the following documents which will become part of the Student File:

  • Each applicant must complete a CU Ajman application form. This form must be submitted by the deadline dates announced by CU Ajman and must be accompanied by a non-refundable admission fee.
  • The applicant must certify that all information submitted on the application is complete and accurate at the time of submission and confirm their understanding that misrepresentation of any information or failure to provide necessary documents may result in denial or rejection of their admission to the university.
  • An official transcript of the high school certificate (or its equivalent) properly authenticated in accordance with the regulations and procedures specified by the Ministry of Education.
  • Letter of equivalency from the Ministry of Education in UAE for non-ministry curriculums must be provided.
  • Certificate of a Standardized Test of Eligibility in English (EmSAT, or TOEFL, or IELTS) or equivalent as approved by the Ministry of Education-Higher Education Affairs. (Certificates of TOEFL or IELTS are valid for only two years, and EmSAT is valid for 18 months).
  • One copy of a valid current official passport.
  • One copy of a valid Government-issued identity card.
  • Copy of a valid UAE residence visa.
  • Copy of family book for UAE nationals.
  • Four recent passport-sized photographs.
  • An Emirates Standardized Test (EmSAT) for English (EmSAT, or TOEFL, or IELTS) or equivalent as approved by the Ministry of Education-Higher Education Affairs. (Certificates of TOEFL or IELTS are valid for only two years, and EmSAT is valid for 18 months).
  • An Emirates Standardized Test (EmSAT) for Arabic Language (All programs). However, International students can register for a non-credited Basic Arabic Language course instead of EmSAT Arabic.
  • An Emirates Standardized Test (EmSAT) for Mathematics.
  • An Emirates Standardized Test (EmSAT) for 2 science courses (Chemistry, Biology or Physics).
  • A non-refundable Admission fee.
  • Passing a personal interview set by the BDS program.
  • A valid certificate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation course (CPR), to be renewed every 2 years.
  • A Health Fitness Certificate.
  • Interview Form.

Bachelor of Business Administration

High School average/stream A minimum High School Average of 60% for Advanced, Elite Track, General Track, or equivalent in Standardized International curriculums
English Proficiency One of the following scores:

  • EmSAT score of 1100 for the English Language
  • IELTS Academic 5.0
  • Paper Based TOEFL 500
  • Internet Based TOEFL 61
Mathematics Proficiency Students with a high school score of less than 80% in the Mathematics must pass one of the following:

  1. Pass a University Administered test with a score of 80% in in Mathematics (Or)
  2. Submit an EMSAT score of 600 in Mathematics.
  3. SAT in Mathematics with a score of 485

Human Resource Management (Arabic and English)

  1. A minimum High School Average of 70% for Advanced or Elite Track or 75% for General Track or equivalent in Standardized International.
  2. EmSAT score of 950 for English Language or an equivalent English Proficiency Test approved by the CAA.
  3. EmSAT score of 1000 for Arabic Language.
  4. EmSAT score of 600 in Mathematics or equivalent.

Transfer of credits – Undergraduates Programs

Transfer Students
  1. Students applying as post-freshman admission, have to provide and official Transcript stating they have attended at least one semester as a full-time student at another accredited University, University, or equivalent educational institution and possess a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.0 or above.
  2. A student with a CGPA of less than 2.0 can be admitted only to a program in a field different than his/her current field in the previous educational institution.
  3. Transfer students from UAE-accredited colleges and universities shall be exempted from the admission criteria because they were already admitted in other colleges/ universities in the UAE and fulfilled admission criteria at the time of initial enrollment. In addition, they will not be required to repeat the EMSAT or TOEFL or IELTS if these scores were submitted at the time of the initial admission.
  4. Coursework completed in the previous educational institution may be accepted in the appropriate program at CU by meeting the following provisions:
    • Applicant must submit an official transcript attested by the MoE-HEA showing all credits and grades earned, along with a detailed description of the courses to the Admission Office.
    • Only coursework with grade C and above, or its equivalent will be accepted.
    • Only coursework relevant to the study plan of the desired major will be considered.
    • Coursework should bear at least three credit hours; however, two or more can be combined to equal one three credit hour course.
    • The coursework content must be equal to approximately 75-80% of the CU course content.
    • Only 50% of total credits shall be considered as transfer credits.
    • If the student studied the same course in two different educational institutions, only one of them will be considered.
    • The coursework was not a part of Foundation and/or Intensive English Programs.
    • The Committee of Student Transfer shall review the student’s request of transfer credits and submit its recommendations to the Vice Chancellor for approval.

Notes:

  • Grades of the transfer courses earned at the host institution are not used in calculating the student’s CGPA.
  • Student must provide a letter of medium of instruction for any transferred course taught in English.
  • Students shouldn’t have been dismissed from their previous institutions for disciplinary reasons.
  • Transfer credit hours will only appear on the CU transcript when the Registrar receives the official and attested transcript of the student’s previous institution.
  1.
