Undergraduate Admissions

To enroll in an Undergraduate Degree Program, students must meet the minimum academic and English language requirements for the concerned program.

Bachelor of Dental Surgery

Admission Requirements

Students who desire to enroll in the program of Bachelor of Dental Surgery, must satisfy the following requirements:

  • A secondary school certificate (Science Major) or equivalent, with a minimum score of 80%.
  • A score of 80% or above in Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
  • A minimum TOEFL score of 500, or a minimum EMSAT score of 1100.
  • A valid certificate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation course (CPR), to be renewed every 2 years.
  • An interview.
  • A health Fitness Certificate.

 

Graduation Requirements

Students will be awarded the Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree upon fulfillment of the following requirements:

  • Successful completion of the required credit hours (194 Credit Hours), including the University requirement courses, with a
  • Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) greater than or equal C (2.0 on a scale of 4.0).
  • Successful completion of the required clinical cases during the clinical phase, in addition to the mandatory two months internal clinical training during Summer sessions.
  • Submitting & defending a research project before an academic committee of the department.

    • UAE embassy
    • Equivalency Letter from Ministry of Education in UAE
  • A complete copy of Khulasat Al Qaid (UAE National Family Book) for UAE Nationals.

  • Applicants who do not have the minimum required TOEFL or IELTS or its equivalent score must take TOEFL test in CUCA. Based on the results they will be placed accordingly in the Intensive English Program (IEP).
  • Students who require Intensive English Program (IEP) courses will be able to register for a maximum of 15 credit hours of General Education courses until they achieve the desired TOEFL or IELTS or its equivalent score.

The five options for General Education courses are:

Bachelor of Pharmacy

Admission Requirements

CUCA abides by the CAA Standards and recommendations, with respect to admission and graduation requirements for all its programs, as described in the Student Handbook submitted with this report.

With respect to the proposed program of Bachelor of Pharmacy, the relevant admission and graduation requirements are:

  • A secondary school certificate (Science Major) or equivalent, with a minimum score of 70%.
  • Priority is given to students with a score of 70% or above in Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
  • A minimum TOEFL score of 500 or equivalent.
  • Interview: The interview will determine the applicant attitudinal, behavioral, physical, moral/ethical decision-making skills, communication skills, empathy, and motivation, as part of the admission requirements.
  • Health Certificate from one of the public Hospitals in the UAE
  • Good Conduct Certificate
  • Onsite Interview

 

Graduation Requirements

Students will be awarded the degree of Bachelor of Pharmacy upon fulfillment of the following requirements:

  • Successful completion of the required credit hours (150 Credit Hours), including the University requirement courses, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) greater than or equal C (2.0 on a scale of 4.0).
  • Submitting & defending a research project before an academic committee of the department.
  • Successful completion of field training in community pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, and pharmaceutical industry of not less than 600 contact hours which is equivalent to 15 credit hours.

Transfer of credits – Undergraduates Programs

CUCA accepts transfer of credits, provided:

  • The transfer is from a recognized institution
  • Students must meet the minimum requirements for Admission at CUCA
  • Students transferring from another institution should possess a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.0 or above 70 grade or above.
  • A student with a CGPA of less than 2.0 can only be admitted to a program in a field different from the one the student is transferring from & only general education courses can be transferred.
  • Coursework completed elsewhere may be accepted in the appropriate program at the College by meeting the following provisions:
    • The applicant submits an official transcript showing all credits and grades earned along with a detailed description of the courses to the CUCA Office of Admission and Registration.
    • Only coursework at a grade level of C (2.0) or higher will be accepted.
    • Courses should bear at three credit hours; however, two or more can be combined to equal one three credit hour course. The course must also be approved by the respective department.
    • The coursework must be equal to approximately 75-80% of the CUCA course content.
  • No more than 50% of the total credits of the program may be accepted as transfer credit.
  • Work experience, field training & graduation projects will not be considered as transferable credit hours.
  • Transferred students needs to provide an official letter from their previous institute that English is the medium of instruction if the transferred courses are offered at CUCA in English language.

In case international student is transferring to CUCA, original bachelor certificate & transcript must be submitted to the admission office attested by:

  • Ministry of external & foreign affairs ( From same country )
  • Ministry of higher education ( From same country )
  • UAE Embassy ( From same country )

With all the above regulations and subject to approval by MOE.

NOTE:

  • Grades of the transfer courses earned at the host institution are not used in calculating the student’s CGPA.
  • Only fresh students can apply for the credit transfer at the time of the admission.
